This Fall, I have been proud to see the growth and hard work of our beautiful learners! When tackling new phonics and comprehension concepts, the students have positive attitudes and are ready to work to gain new skills. Each new phonics concept, we introduce a mentor text. It has been fun to watch our learners interact with new texts and even ask to borrow the book from our classroom library for independent reading time. Please continue working with our learners on these skills at home as well. With repetition, we will see the skills reinforced and become a natural habit. The games I mentioned in the newsletter are games that can easily be made up on the spot or adapted to fit the resources in your home. If you need any further ideas or resources, please let me know!

During September, our focus as a class was on becoming fluent in basic Math and Reading Skills. When we lay a solid foundation of these skills, we will be better prepared to move forward in the curriculum. Please read our newsletter below to learn how we practiced these skills in the classroom, and how you can also use these skills at home! In Social Emotional Classes, we focused on our first of seven habits of a highly successful student - Be Proactive. Students learned the differences between Proactivity and Reactivity. They learned to take initiative in their own actions, moods, and attitudes towards situations at home and school. Students created a goal for an area they would like to grow in. Ask your student how they plan to be proactive this month! Lastly, in Writing, we have learned about Personal Narratives, and students have practiced basic Writing Skills by writing their own Personal Narratives. It has been an exciting time in Mrs. Snyder's Classroom! Remember to keep an eye out on Instagram at @beyoutifullearners to see what your students are doing!
